Heer Patel had outstanding academic performance at NHS South including a GPA of 4.42. She made a successful transition from schooling in India to the United States, continued courses online and at night to catch up on credits needed, completed 3 hours of clinicals each day and satisfied all requirements for achieving her Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) certification while in high school.
In selecting Heer for one of our NHS-1963 scholarships, we acknowledge and commend her for her volunteer work as a member of Interact, as well as her membership in HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America), and also for her volunteer work at the hospital and for somehow finding the time for part-time work. Ruben Gauthier also had impressive academic accomplishments at NHS, including a GPA of 3.96. Additionally while a student at NHS South, Ruben developed a passionate interest in music, and demonstrated entrepreneurship by creating his own YouTube channel to create beats using Sound Cloud (world's leading social sound platform where anyone can listen to or create sounds and share them everywhere). Ruben desires to pursue a career in multimedia design, in part because of what he experienced following the Haitian earthquake and hurricane during a trip to his home country last year, and his desire to contribute to the rebuilding process necessary across the world in places like Haiti. In selecting Ruben for one of our NHS-1963 scholarships, we acknowledge and commend him for his volunteer work during last year’s political campaign and for being a member of both the Technology Club as well as the Entrepreneurship Club at NHS South; and also for finding time for part time employment. |
Special thanks to Tom Osgood and Noreen (Tappan) Doris) who represented NHS-1963 on stage at the NHS South Scholarship Awards Event and presented this years NHS-1963 scholarships to Heer and Ruben. Also attending this year's awards ceremony were Steve Doris and Peter Chaloner.
