OUR 55TH CLASS REUNION ("NOW IN OUR 70'S AND LOVING IT" )
It never gets old, does it? In fact it seems that each of our Class Reunions keeps getting better and better. Our 55th Class Reunion in September of 2018 was well planned, well executed and well attended --- especially for an off year reunion. And what a joy it was to see everyone. The energy was evident and there were so many smiles, hugs and lots of laughter. We even had one classmates (Alice Levan Drake, our class valedictorian) who was attending her first NHS-1963 Class Reunion.
The Alumni/Reunion Committee wishes to thank everyone who attended this reunion, many from faraway places. We hope that you had as good a time as we did.
RECAP and HIGHLIGHTS
GOLF EVENT: Thanks in part to modern day GPS technology, 19 hearty souls actually found their way back to the Souhegan Golf Club in Amherst to tee-off for our NHS-1963 55th Reunion Scramble. Donuts and coffee were provided (courtesy of Butch) prior to tee off, and prizes were awarded for "shortest drive" and "furthest from the hole" (Some were claimed but others left unclaimed --- pride prevailing). The weather was fine, we all had a fun time and lunch was provided. Team photos are below. For all photos from this event, tap or click here
LADIES LUNCHEON: Held at the beautiful LaBelle Winery in Amherst, NH, and looking to prove that age does in fact get better with wine, our Ladies Luncheon event was attended by 25 of our finest females. The luncheon was introduced and hosted by Noreen (Tappan) Doris, who greeted everyone and (just for giggles) shared some of the more interesting tidbits from the questionnaire that was sent out weeks before the reunion. Decorations were provided by Alice (Neves) Jette, Teresa (Fariz) Huntley and Noreen. A fabulous lunch was served and an optional winery tour and wine tasting followed. The time flew by and at the end, all attendees walked away with a gift bag of remembrances courtesy of Noreen. One special picture (group shot below) to pique your interest. ICE BREAKER: The Ice Breaker Social was held on Friday night, September 21st at the Courtyard Marriott in Nashua. It was appetizers, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Like the Ice Breakers at the 40th and 50th reunions, there was no formal program of events, just an opportunity to touch base and socialize with classmates in a very informal setting. 75+ classmates and guests attended and the night flew by. A few pics below as a tease. To see all pictures from the Ice Breaker, click or tap here.
DINNER DANCE. Same drill (and more).......the Nashua Country Club (perfect venue), cocktail hour (1st one on us) with appetizers and hors d'oeuvres, a wonderful dinner (prime rib and baked haddock), complimentary wine, MC duties by our own "quips and quotes" master (Tom Osgood), a special guest speaker, Keith Richards, principal of NHS South (who thanked all of our classmates for the NHS-1963 scholarships to date and promise of more to come), announcement of the new "Richard Cabral Memorial Scholarship" (in addition to and supplementing our two existing, annual scholarships), dancing to 50's & 60's tunes spun by the inimitable (and ageless) Gerry Lawrence, and a special raffle of hand-crafted wooden purple panther sculptures created and donated by one of our classmates (Stephen Paskevich, who couldn't attend our reunion due to health concerns but was certainly there in spirit). That's a summary of what transpired throughout the evening but there's no denying that above all....... the spirit of friendship, camaraderie and many good memories prevailed. It was a wonderful wrap up to our 55th Class Reunion.
We thank Micah Doris (Steve and Noreen's youngest) and Katie Authement (Bonnie Merrill McCann's daughter) for their assistance as helpers at the Dinner-Dance and for taking pictures.
Finally, we honor and remember those classmates who have passed since our 50th reunion including Daniel Breault, Carol Devereux, Sandy Niles, Richard Pelletier, Paul Moreau, Louis Thibodeau, Diane Laudani, Faith Flythe, Mary Burke, Pat Gallagher, Ken Daigle, Dick Cabral, Brenda White, Pat Nixon, Russ Cardin and Myra Maker, plus two near grads, Lenny Holbrook and Dennis Polinski. We miss you all.
