In selecting Ava Rodriguez for one of the two NHS Class of 1963 Scholarships for 2023, our NHS-1963 Alumni Committee was impressed not only with Amy's academic accomplishments while a student at NHS South but very impressed with her involve-ment inside and outside of the classroom, in particular her ability to achieve good grades while working 25 hours per week to save for her college education, and also for participating on the track team all four years, her participation in the Best Buddies program, serving as a Mentor and her passion for photography (earning local recognition as Art Student of the Month). We believe Ava to be a most deserving recipient of one of this year’s NHS Class of 1963 scholarships.

ANNOUNCING THE WINNER OF THE RICHARD CABRAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2023
Ten years ago, the NHS Class of 1963 celebrated the 50th anniversary of its own graduation from the former Nashua High on Elm St. (the predecessor of NHS South) by establishing a permanent Scholarship Endowment Fund dedicated to benefitting students at Nashua High School South. Later on, at our 55th class reunion in 2018, a new, additional scholarship was established to honor the spirit, legacy and extraordinary financial support of our classmate Dick Cabral (1945—2017) and his wife Wendy Cabral.
