Our 40th Class Reunion (OK, technically the 41st since it was held a year later than intended) was held over the weekend of September 17, 18 and 19 in 2004. Hurricane Ivan stalled long enough to allow us to get the "Golf-for-Geezers" event in on Friday morning, and then get to the "Ice-Breaker" social on Friday night. It poured like Hell during the day on Saturday (but nobody cared --- except for the Reunion Committee who were busily loading and unloading decorations, setting up memorabilia displays, etc.) then the rain stopped long enough to allow everyone to get to the Nashua Country Club dry on Saturday evening for the"Dinner-Dance". And Sunday was a typical quasi-cloudy, quasi-cool September day to crash and burn at the "Beach Party" hosted at Sue (Barker) Moran's home at the Beach.
From the perspective of the reunion committee, but also confirmed by several of our classmates and guests who commented both at and after the reunion, we had a hugely successful reunion weekend. People were comfortable, at ease, warm, friendly, and just a wee bit wild and crazy. That includes the guests as well. We think everyone had a great time, and that's what it's all about.
Pictures from all four reunion events are available in two places. First, all pictures (tastefully captioned of course) are included in the individual event write-ups that follow for each event. Secondly, all of the photos have been uploaded to a photo sharing web site (www.shutterfly.com), where you may view and/or order selected prints if you wish. LIST OF ATTENDEES
PROGRAM
The first 40th class reunion event was an 18 hole "scramble" (best ball) tournament held on Friday morning at the Overlook Golf Club in Hollis NH. Despite the imminent threat of Hurricane Ivan, which stalled long enough to allow us all to tee-up, tee-off and complete our match relatively dry, sweating only from the humidity and occasional embarrassment, all 19 golfers who signed up, showed up --- yet another indication of the brazen and unbridled spirit of the NHS Class of 1963.
The golf event was organized by Peter Chaloner and John Noraig. For those arriving early, donuts and coffee were provided (while we tried to figure out who we all were). The teams were pre-selected by John and Peter, in theory based on playing preferences submitted by each of the players. The theory went out the window, as there was absolutely no attempt to make this a fair or equitable tournament. While we asked for your handicaps, we totally ignored them --- deciding in the end that it would be better to allow people to play with who they wanted to play with. Besides, there were no prizes anyway. However, everyone who played, received a souvenir gift --- a golf shirt with a purple NHS Alumni and panther logo. So, we did go slightly over budget on this event....but only because of the preponderance of the more costly double-XX and triple XXX sizes !!!
There were five teams in all, with team #3 (Moe Paquette, Jerry Rioux and Joanne Rioux) and team #5 (Steve Doris, Jim Tebbetts, Gary Barrett and Danny Peacock) finishing in a dead-heat tie for 1st place (at a respectable 4 under par). Rather than have a putt-off to decide 1st place, we all decided to start drinking instead.
Pictures say it so much better. Here they all are, starting with a group shot of all participants.

GOLF FOR GEEZERS SLIDESHOW
The second of four 40th class reunion events was held on Friday evening, September 17, 2004 at The Boston Billiards Club, or was it Margarita's...no, it was the Boston Billiards Club. Well, it was originally supposed to be Maragrita's but because of better than anticipated responses (and the inability of Maragrita's management to give us dedicated space), the venue for the "Ice-Breaker" was moved to the Boston Billiards Club. With a little financial kicker from one of our classmates (anonymous) who picked up the tab for the rental of a private room, we were in business....in a great environment with dedicated wait staff who were pleasant (and everpresent) throughout the evening, tripping over themselves (and us) hauling drinks and food upon request. Unfortunately, Dennis Marandos and Tom Merchant didn't get the word on the switch and spent a lovely (or was it lonely) night at Maragrita's waiting for the rest of us to show up.
The Ice-Breaker social was organized by John Noraig and Tom Osgood. There was no set start time for this event, but lots of classmates showed up right when the doors opened at 7:00pm, and most everyone stayed through the evening. Over 60 classmates and guests attended, and it was a wonderfully casual and happy crowd, with lots of hugs, and lots of laughs. We learned quickly that it was OK to stare at someone who looked vaguely familiar, just long enough to finally guess at who they were. The "stumper" award (person who changed the most) from high school days went to..... Jim Krueger.
Pictures are worth a thousand words....... Check it all out in the slideshow below.

The highlight of the 40th reunion weekend was the Dinner Dance held at the tried and true Nashua Country Club. A cocktail hour, memorabilia exhibit, "In Memory Of" table, wonderful dinner, photo stand, souvenir gifts (three CD's with music from the 50's and 60's), a great meal, dancing to our music for several hours until we closed the place down when the clock struck midnight.

DINNER DANCE SLIDESHOW
Thanks to classmate Sue (Barker) Moran and her husband Ed Moran (NHS 1962), we wrapped up our 40th Reunion weekend with a relaxing, fun day at Sue and Ed's summer home on the Atlantic in North Hampton, NH. While the weather was unseasonably cool, our spirits were decidedly warm. To shake the cobwebs from the night before, we had mimosas and bloody marys for openers, followed by a catered luncheon on the lawn, and hours of continued reminiscing, lots of laughs and non-stop chatter --- a wonderful finish to a fabulous 40th reunion weekend.

LADIES LUNCHEON
In early 2003, and with planning for the official 40th class reunion being about a year behind schedule, some of the local NHS-1963 gals got together for a “Ladies Luncheon” to commemorate the 40 years that had passed since our graduation from NHS. The ladies were in a reunion mood and felt a celebration was needed sooner rather than later.
The Ladies Luncheon committee members were: Linda (Raub) Zammer, Carol (Hackett) McKinney, Sue (Davis) Hackney, Sunny (Gould) MacMillan, and Laurie (Hambleton) Latvis. They met once a week from February until June of 2003, and chose to host this event in the Hunt Club Room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua. There were 44 ladies in attendance.
"It was fun to see how we have all changed over the years. We gave each person a name tag with their high school picture on it, and we were all pleased we had that for identification. We placed a program of events, along with a souvenir at each place at the tables".
Carol (Hackett) McKinney put together a collage of classmate pictures, from elementary school through high school for all to see and comment on. The centerpieces were purple flowers and were given to a person at the table,
Linda (Raub) Zammer provided music from the 60’s on a CD playing throughout the luncheon. The luncheon began with a complimentary glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres while people arrived. Outside the room, we had a table set up with I.D. cards. Over the table was a welcoming banner. We, also, had people sign a guest book.
Sunny (Gould) MacMillan welcomed and thanked everyone for coming. The luncheon was taken up with Appetizers; Lunch; a Fashion Show (by Junz Boutique) show with 1960’s attire, with Bonnie (Merrill) McCann, Linda (Raub) Zammer and Carol (Hackett) McKinney as models.
It was nice to receive such positive feedback afterwards from a lot of classmates via e-mail. Below are some pictures from the Ladies Luncheon
