GRADES 1 - 6 - ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
Beginning in the Fall of 1951 and continuing through the Spring of 1957, most members of the Nashua High Class of 1963 attended one of the elementary school in the Nashua Area. There were some old (really ancient) schools, and a couple of new ones but they all had a few things in common.......like, for example, lots of brick (the exception was the Palm Street School), and bunch of great kids (that would be us).
There were eight (8) public schools, and six (6) parochial schools, as shown below.

GRADES 7 - 9 SPRING ST JUNIOR HIGH
The site where the Spring Street Junior High School was built was originally a cemetery. The graves were dug up and most were moved to Woodlawn Cemetery. Built in 1875, the school was originally used as a high school. Spring Street was occupied for the first time in April 1875. The cost to build, at the time, was $105,000. It had ten classrooms and a third floor assembly hall. The basement had two indoor playrooms. Later it was used as a grammar school until it burned down in 1917. Once the school was rebuilt in 1919, the building reverted back to being used as a high school. After Elm Street High School was dedicated in 1937, Spring Street became a junior high once again
